Research Practices... so far.....

So we have got a week ish left to finish our last module project, research practices. For this we had to take inspirtation from one of our critical and contexual lectures and our essay.

For my essay i did androgyny so i decided to do this for my project. I am looking at how androgyny is in fashion, and espicilly in childrenswear, i wanted to do a range on boys clothes but for women. These are my ideas so far...

I'm really enjoying this project as it is using a whole new idea and i think i am thinking outside the box abit more, i am worried about designing as i feel it isn't my strongest point but i am excited about it as it is a project i really am enjoying doing.

PROMOTION MODULE

So from our research in innovative cut we have a new module that is about making and planning an event for our range from the previous project to be shown at.

The idea is that a designer has pulled out of fashion week so there is a stand and an event spare that i have to make a presentation to the fashion week board to see if i can get that space to show my work. So we have to design a range of products from our last design in innovative cut and then create a concept and idea about an event and design a stand to show these designs.

I chose to do a french theme event and stand as that is where i took my insiration from initially, i wanted to use the french singer coeur de pirate and make a show that combines music and fashion.

It was quite a rushed project but it was really interesting and fun as we got to make a video and do a promotions type project which is maybe what i would like to go into in the future.

This is the project i have done the best in so far in my fashion degree so i was really proud of it and am glad i put so much effort in to get the grade i did.

3 MIN FILM

So today we had a mini master class on how to edit film on final cut for our next module. It was really really fun and i learnt so much about film editing in one day. we had to create a 3 minute film for a fashion TV show using photos and youtube videos in preparation for making out own video.

This is my video!

It took a long time to make but definatly will help is when we have to make a longer video for other modules or just being able to use final cut in the future.

Innovative Cut Module

This module was really fun, it was about an avant garde design that we had to made as well. I took influence from my trip to paris and chose to do a french theme.

I looked at the flea market photos and chose to use some old music manuscript i found there as my inspiration, i started my reserch into avant garde designs and from that i got the idea of origami birds and this is where to took my designs and final garment.

I wanted to use the paper to make my birds so i chose to do a whole paper garment so it was recyclable and realyy avant garde.

I was really pleased with how my research came together but my garment as i made it out of only paper was quite shoddy so i think i could have done that better and lined it with something to make it stronger.

These are a few images from my reserch and designs.

TRIP TO PARIS!

For my 21'st birthday me and my boyfriend took a trip to Paris, it was september so the weather was great and the city was so beautiful.

We were staying near the Moulin Rouge so it was quite central and we went to vintage shops, flea markets and lots of tourist places, the eiffel tower, mont martre and many more!

These are few of my favourite pictures.

Over the summer we were given a project to research into CDG fashion line, i really enjoyed this as it was the first glimmer of what we would be doing in Pathway A.
These are a few of my pages from the summer work.

APPLICATION OF DESIGN WORK

This project was really interesting and fun but it was also time consuming and hard to work in a group. Initially it was ok, finding what brand we wanted to create for our range and our individual research, but as we went through it and had to work in a group more often so all our work went well together it was hard to find time to get together and properly work as a team.

I found the research initially was ok, we worked out we wanted to do a sideline for CDG for All Saints, called Brocante and it would be a ready to wear line that was autumn/winter inspired by dark colours and tartan.

The designing was ok, it was easy to choose who did what as we all had a clear choice of what we wanted to do, and so we had enough freedom with each other to just get on with it.

In working as a group it was hard as we weren't in at the same time alot and it was hard to communicate with each of the girls to get things sorted and finished.

i think these problems let to us having quite a disappointing presentation at the end and not getting the best work we could.
